Admissions

Our nursery runs the option of full days Monday – Thursday and a half day on Fridays or five half days.

The main point of entry is in our nursery class for children aged 3, with a guaranteed reception place the following year. Parents are advised to register their child early and to visit the school.

From time to time occasional places do become available throughout the school – please contact the School Registrar, Lucinda Rodgers, on 020 8948 3926 for details.

Small and half classes

Classes are small, with usually no more than 22 children and many specialist subjects are taught in half classes. We are a one form entry school over eight years with classes named after the colours of the rainbow from Red to Ultra Violet.

“Nothing is sacrificed on altar of 11+. Music, drama, sport, art all continue at full throttle. School openly shields children from exam stress and strongly discourages parents from even talking about 11+ until year 5.”

Joining Nursery (Red Class)

Parents are advised to register their child as soon as possible and visit the School. We give priority to siblings and the children of past Unicorns. Places are offered during the course of the school year prior to entry.

Children are admitted to our Nursery Class (Red Class) in the September after their third birthday. This is the main point of entry with a guaranteed place in Reception (Orange Class) the following year.

Joining later

Occasional places do become available throughout the school and are offered at the discretion of the Headteacher. The same admissions’ criteria apply for places in established classes. It is important that children joining Unicorn at a later stage are academically and socially suited to the established class.

For Infant classes, you will need to provide school reports and any other assessments; your child will be given an informal interview and tested in reading and spelling. Children joining Junior classes may be asked to sit tests in maths, English and reasoning and will be interviewed by Mrs Fraley, the Headteacher.

To register, please complete an online registration form and to make an appointment to visit the School please contact Lucinda Rodgers, the Registrar, on 020 8948 3926.
